MontluçonA medieval town of contrasts and monuments

At 40 km from the campsite, Montluçon welcomes you to the Auvergne region. This lovely medieval town, built around the Château des Ducs de Bourbon, offers great historical heritage. You can start by visiting the Saint-Pierre district and the timber-framed houses of the 15th and 16th centuries, the Norman church and the House of the Twelve Apostles. Further on, you can walk up to the Château des Ducs de Bourbon, built during the Hundred Years’ War. From the forecourt looking out on the Cher river and the bocage of Bourbon, you’ll have an amazing view on the entire town. The numerous historical monuments like the Château de Bien-Assis, the Château de La Louvière with garden and the Saint-Paul’s church with remarkable architecture are definitely worth a visit. If you have some time left, you can experience an original music event at the Mupop, a modern museum dedicated to folk-music.
